The Essential Sub-Contractor’s Course

20 March 2019

Quigg Golden Belfast, 18-22 Hill Street, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast BT1 2LA

09:30 - 16:30

Frequently at the first sign of a storm it’s the sub-contractor who is left out in the cold when the client and main contractor hide behind closed doors.

As a result, they often face complex contractual and legal issues without the legal support available to main contractors; a tricky situation especially when the added complication of limited access to the client is considered.

This course is intended to arm you with the knowledge and legal skills to navigate projects from tender stage to completion. These new proficiencies will give you the best chance at avoiding disputes and knowing how to navigate them should they arise.

Who should attend?

This course will be invaluable for sub-contractor’s management teams who are utilising the JCT or NEC contracts on a daily basis.

Delegates will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance upon completion, constituting six hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Topics covered

Upon completion of this one-day course, attendees will have developed an understanding of:

  • Payment – The requirements of Irish and UK legislation with respect to both upstream and downstream contracts and how you contract to protect your cashflow;
  • Managing Change – Mitigating risk of change and claiming time and money for variations; and
  • Contract Management – Implementing and following commercial and project management procedures to achieve streamlined, effective projects and maximising returns.
