JCT contracts are one of the most widely used standard form contracts within the building and construction industry.  This eight-week course will provide attendees with the knowledge they need to administer and deliver projects effectively using the JCT suite of contracts.

The course will provide practical knowledge of the JCT suite of contracts and relevant law.

It is designed for parties to a construction contract including employers, architects, contract administrators, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors.

Anyone who is involved in the procurement, administration and/or delivery of projects under JCT contracts and wishes to develop their understanding and key commercial skills necessary for management would also benefit from attending.

Lecture 1 – JCT Unlocked: Forms, Procurement & Principles – 13-May-25

Get to grips with the structure, purpose, and logic behind JCT contracts. Understand procurement routes and the core principles that shape every JCT form.

Lecture 2 – Who Does What: Roles & Responsibilities – 20-May-25

Under JCT Clarifies the duties of employers, contractors, and contract administrators. Know your obligations—and everyone else’s.

Lecture 3 – Built to Last: Design, Quality & Defects – 27-May-25

Explore how design obligations are allocated and how quality and defects are managed. Stay on top of risk and responsibility.

Lecture 4 – Money Moves: Payment, Variations & Suspension – 03 Jun-25

Demystifies payment mechanisms, managing variations, and lawful suspension. Keep cash flowing and changes controlled.

Lecture 5 – Time is Money: Extensions, Delays & Damages – 10-Jun-25

Understand how to claim time, prove delay, and manage concurrent delay. Learn to defend against—or claim—liquidated damages.

Lecture 6 – Show Me the Money: Claims for Payment – 17-Jun-25

Breaks down how to claim additional costs under JCT. Covers loss and expense, valuation strategies, and effective claim submissions.

Lecture 7 Safety Nets: Insurance, Warranties & Financial Protections – 24-Jun-25

Covers insurance duties, collateral warranties, bonds, and fluctuation clauses. Protect the project—and yourself—financially and legally.

Lecture 8 – Breaking Point: Termination, Insolvency & Disputes – 01-Jul-25

Guides you through ending contracts, navigating insolvency, and resolving disputes. Learn to manage conflict before it escalates.
