A Beginner’s Guide to the JCT: One Day Course

This one day course will cover the basic principles and core clauses of the JCT suite of contracts.  It will explain the key differences between the contracts available in the JCT suite and provide an overview of the “need to know” contract mechanisms.  It will also look at issues involved with the administration and successful delivery of projects using JCT contracts.

There will be a focus on how to apply these key elements of the contract in practical situations.

Topics covered:

Upon completion of this one-day course, attendees will have developed an understanding of:

  • Setting up the Contract
  • Roles and Responsibilities – Employer, Contract Administrator/Architect, Sub-contractor, Supplier
  • Contract Administration – Time, Payment, Control of the Works, Variations
  • Bonds, Guarantees and Collateral Warranties
  • Termination and Dispute Resolution

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for any construction or legal professionals who are interested in working with or learning about the JCT contracts, and have had limited or no experience of the suite.

Please note that you will be required to pay a deposit of £50 on initial booking.  The remainder of the cost will be invoiced before commencement of the course.
