In the past 12-18 months, the JCT and NEC forms of contract have been updated. Join the CIOB Maidstone hub and a selection of leading experts in contracts and law, for a discussion on the key risks in the latest forms of standard construction contract. Each speaker will present their considerations of the main risks and advantages of working with the forms.


James Frampton, Keating Chambers – Barrister (NEC)

Stefan Berry, Associate Quigg Golden (JCT)

Stefan has in depth experience in contract law, construction law and procurement.

Following law studies at both Queen’s University Belfast and Trinity College Dublin, he started his career in an energy sector working for one of Northern Ireland’s largest utilities companies.

Stefan has drafted multiple bespoke construction contracts and suites of amendments for use in both the UK and Ireland. He advises clients on various contentious and non-contentious construction matters.

Edward Quigg, Quigg Golden – Barrister (Non-Practising)*, Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional and Civil Engineer  (Chair) 

Edward is a Director and joint owner of Quigg Golden. He is a Solicitor*, a Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional and Civil Engineer.

Edward gained his initial experience working for a civil and structural engineering consultancy and a major contractor. His extensive knowledge of both the design and construction processes is added to by his legal knowledge and wide experience in all methods of construction dispute resolution including mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.

Edward has become known as a leading expert on the legal obligations of procuring work, including the EU requirements.

*Edward is a Solicitor in England and Wales, he also holds the degree of barrister but does not hold a practising certificate from, and is not fully regulated by, the Bar Standards Board.
