Brian is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has acquired over 13 years’ experience in the construction and commercial management of civil engineering and building projects throughout Ireland for one of Ireland’s largest contractors. Brian is head of our in-house project management team and is heavily involved in procuring this type of work and the administration of the day to day role. Recent projects include agreeing final account stage for a £4m project in Belfast for the construction of agri-feed stores (NEC Option A) and the pre-contract (NEC Option C) award stages of the construction of an extension to a biopharmaceutical facility with a project value of €15 – €20m. In terms of live projects, Brian is the Project Manager on the construction of two separate agri-feed store extensions (NEC Option A) with a combined project value €8.5m.
His thorough understanding of technical issues associated within the construction industry, coupled with his practical knowledge of the law and dispute resolution, ensures that he is ideally placed to evaluate and advise upon contractual issues to both client and contractor alike. He manages disputes in all forums including arbitration, conciliation and adjudication.
Brian has acquired extensive experience in the management of PWC, FIDIC and NEC contracts. He regularly provides bespoke training on varying forms of construction contracts and topical industry practices/issues. These are provided in-house and to institutions such as ICE, CIBSE, DIT Bolton Street and Engineers Ireland. Brian is also course co-ordinator and lecturer on the ICE Civil Engineering Law and Contract Management (NEC 3) Course in Dublin.
Brian is also a member of the part time lecturing panel for the Undergraduate / Postgraduate Quantity Surveying Course in Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street.
