The Role

We are now seeking to recruit a enthusiastic and ambitious individual to undertake an internship and assist us in delivering successful outcomes for our range of public and private sector clients. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic student to gain an excellent insight into a fast-paced legal environment within a specialist practice operating across multiple jurisdictions.

 

The Firm

Quigg Golden is a specialist construction and procurement law firm with offices in Dublin, Belfast, London and Maidstone. At Quigg Golden we see ourselves as an integral part of the Construction industry and a firm that uses the law to solve construction problems, as opposed to a firm of Solicitors which merely specialises in construction law.

By combining over 20 years of experience advising some of the biggest names in construction across the UK, Ireland and the Middle East with a team of talented, committed and highly skilled Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Solicitors, unlike most ‘traditional’ law firms, we can boast of a unique selling point in providing full-spectrum advice and understanding to clients.

In addition, we also offer a training service to clients in the construction industry, allowing them to better equip key staff with the technical knowledge to manage the legal aspects of a construction projects.

 

The Role

The successful candidate will find themselves working under the direction and supervision of experienced staff members to help deliver successful outcomes to clients in a wide range of construction and procurement law matters ranging from Training delivery through to Contract Reviews and an array of Dispute Resolution methods. In addition, they may find themselves:

  • Recording the outcomes of client meetings and drafting follow-up correspondence;
  • Producing draft letters, tender documents and contracts;
  • Researching case law and assisting the lead fee earner to administer matters in an effective and timely manner;
  • Assisting with case administration;
  • Undertaking marketing and business development activities to promote the continued success of the firm.

 

The Candidate

In order to be considered for the role, applicants must:

  • Be working towards an Undergraduate or Post-Graduate qualification in a Legal or Construction related discipline;
  • Be available and required to undertake a fixed 12-month work placement as part of their studies;
  • Possess impeccable interpersonal and communication skills. You will be someone that adds something positive to the dynamic within our team;
  • Have a high level of IT literacy. Microsoft Office inc Powerpoint, Word, Outlook and Excel are a must (and will be tested at interview), but the ability to learn our on-house systems also;
  • Have an ability to work independently and as part of a small team. You will be comfortable in a dynamic and pressurised environment, sometimes with specific direction and guidance and at others, under appropriate supervision, be allowed to get on with the task at hand and trusted to deliver;
  • Be able to demonstrate strong analytical ability combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Thrive under pressure and enjoy meeting tight deadlines and in an efficient manner.

 

The Offer

  • Earn whilst you learn with a generous salary of £24,500.
  • 20 Days Annual Holiday plus statutory public holidays.
  • Opportunity to occasionally work from home (will depend on the tasks you are engaged on in order to meet supervision requirements).
