How to get paid: Your Contract and the Act

Thursday 26 October 2017

Quigg Golden Maidstone, 1 Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, Kent ME16 8RL

5.00pm - 6.30pm

This seminar will focus on the increased strain on contractors, sub-contractors and the supply chain in getting paid.  We shall focus on how to use your contract and the law to maximise your commercial recovery.

We have had a statutory right to enforce and secure payment in the construction industry for 20 years; yet everyday we come across the same problems from our clients struggling to get paid.  Whether the problems be under the guise of late, slow or non-payment, this seminar seeks to discuss the tools under Contract and Statute to secure that payment.

This seminar looks at the contractual mechanisms and statutory frameworks in place that will allow contractors and sub-contractors to best protect themselves, and ensure that payment be made on time and that recovery is guaranteed.

Topics will include:

  • Knowing your contract – a look at the JCT and NEC mechanisms for payment
  • Keeping records to demonstrate entitlement
  • Your statutory rights – understanding the Act and Scheme for payment
  • Taking appropriate action when you don’t get paid.
